Liebster Award

Hello again!
Sorry for the insanely long absence but exam season sort of took over my life for a while, which was pretty depressing at the time, but it makes my return feel all the more sweet! Also, I know this post isn't fashion related but I'm thinking that this blog will be pretty relaxed - a bit about life/fashion/books I've read recently/what I'm liking (or not) etc. and just general thoughts. I'm also trying to improve my writing skills in general so hopefully writing more often will help.

Anyway, a few months ago I was nominated for this Liebster Award, which I literally didn't have time to even think about at that point, never mind discover what it actually was. I hadn't heard of this before I was asked to take part, so I've copied the rules from Tessie Jayne from Socks with Sandals , who also nominated me. Take a look at her blog, her writing style always makes me giggle and her blog is just generally awesome.

"For those who don't know what it is, I will share with you what exactly the Liebster Award is, which I've managed to discover after extensive research (well, not really):

Basically, in my own words, I view it as a fancier term for being "tagged" (as shown by this reeeeaaaallly old post on one of my favourite blogs). However, if you don't know what I'm talking about, these are the traditional rules:

 1. Once you are nominated you can accept or decline this award (of course, you are flattered and accept it :).
2. Post the award button on your blog.
3. Thank whoever it was who nominated you and give a link to that person's blog ('cause it's nice).
4. List eleven things about yourself that your readers don't know.
5. Answer the eleven questions that your nominator asked.
6. Nominate other bloggers that you think deserve the award! You can go with the whole eleven/eleven/eleven thing or you could just list a few. The important thing about it is that whoever you nominate must not have over 200 followers. The famous blogger people already have their own set of real awards, not just a chain letter game.
7. List eleven questions for your nominees to answer!"

Okay so. I accept! Thanks for the nomination Tessie from Socks with Sandals and I'd like to apologise for taking so long to do it because I really do appreciate it!. Here goes!

1. I'm a vegetarian, have been for about six years.

2. I keep a diary pretty regularly, because I think it would be a shame to grow up and simply forget what it was like to be young. I'm also keeping a 'summer scrapbook' this year to document my summer of being 16 as so much is happening!

3. I'm really into performing in general and will be playing 'Tracey Turnblad' in 'Hairspray' later this year. I'm also hoping to be in 'Evita' at my new school in November and I have a pretty decent part in 'Our House' in York this summer - all things to look forward to!

4. I never eat anything with a big spoon. I always use teaspoons. No clue why.

5. I think that water from other peoples houses tastes weird.

6. I have really weird thumbs that I have been told look like toes. If you stick around on this blog for long enough, you may have the privilege of seeing them.

7. I've only got in to all things vintage over the last year but I've loved discovering this wonderful world of one off pieces that I can actually afford.

8. I'm moving schools in September for sixth form, as are many of my friends. I had an induction day on Tuesday that I was terrified for but it went brilliantly so at least that's one less thing to think about.

9. I was reallyreallyreallyreally nervous about starting this blog. Well, maybe not nervous, just a bit apprehensive about how I might come off. People can misinterpret others so much over the internet and I don't want anyone to think I'm horrible - I promise I'm not! :)

10. I've had a job for about a year and a half now and I love love love it. I've progressed from washing up to making drinks to now waitressing and I just love the feeling of responsibility it gives me ( and the money obviously...).

So there you are, hope it wasn't too dull! Now for Tessie's questions...

1. Are you a morning or a night person?
Oh this is easy peazy. I am most DEFINITLEY a night person. I only start functioning properly at about 12 o clock. I especially work better on anything creative at night (writing/art/piano etc.).

2. Describe your perfect day.
You know what, I think I actually experienced my perfect day last week, which was rather surreal. I went to Whitby last Friday with my friends ( which I WILL post about when I get the photos on the computer!) and the Saturday was just perfection. You'll have to read the upcoming post to find out what it was. Sorry to be annoying!

3. In your opinion, are rainy days depressing or relaxing?
MUY RELAXING. I LOVE rainy days! It reminds me of films like Wuthering Heights (which I adore), I think it can be so romantic and calming.

4. What one saying/phrase/cliché/sentence describes you best?
I don't know, that's so hard because now I've read that question I cant think of any... if I think of one ill include it in a later post :)

5. Given the choice, would you go back in time or forward, and when?
Back, back, back, back....I hate the fact that I live 'nowadays' really. I know that women have rights etc. etc. but life seem

6. If you were "starting over" in life, and could only bring one object, what would you bring?
That's tricky. It sounds daft but probably nothing? Otherwise it wouldn't be 'starting over' I guess, as you would have something to remind you of your 'former life', if you will. Well, that's what I say now but if that really happened I'd be like, 'NO I want my dog and my chocolate and my mum thanks very much.'

7. Dogs or cats (or rabbits, or parrots, or goldfish, etc...)?
This shouldn't even be a question. DOGS. End of.

8. Who is the one famous person you'd love to meet?
Oooh this is really tough. There are so many people I admire. Probably someone who's mind I could pick, like the author Jodi Picoult(she is BRILLIANT) or a great actor but, in a way, I don't think these people could ever live up to my expectations of them, as I only have an idea in my head of the way they are from being portrayed through TV/media etc. So they might be a bit of a let down and then forever be ruined for me...if you get what I'm saying? Maybe not, maybe I'm just rambling daft rambles. I've just realised I'm being very cynical about all of these questions. Sorrrryyyy!

9. Read the book or watch the movie?
Normally, I would say read the book without a seconds thought, but some movies I've watched recently have definitely outshone their books. Which I guess is a shame because people don't read enough anyway nowadays but there you go, that's the world nowadays. ( I sound like a granny, I know).

10. Who is your favorite fictional character?
At the moment, (I go through different phases of obsessions over different books/films, as do most people, I assume) it would probably be 'Che' from 'Evita' or 'Heathcliff' from 'Wuthering Height's'. Simply for the reason that each character has so much passion I just can't even convey the amount through words. Watch Evita and Wuthering Heights and you'll get it.

11. What is your favorite activity?
Acting/reading I would say at the minute. Or just generally scrapbooking/being creative. Right now, I'm just loving the freedom of being able to do pretty much what I want without thinking about exams/revision!

Honestly, I don't think I actually know 11 bloggers so I'll just do a few.

Jessie from The Changing Girl
Amber from Cult Kid

And here's my questions for the nominated ones!

1. What's your one biggest wish?
2. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?
3. Do you want kids/to get married?
4. What's your favourite smell?
5. Sunny beach or rainy countryside?
6. If you could choose, would you be a boy or girl?
7. What is your favourite item of clothing right now and what's the story behind it?
8. What's your favourite time of year?
9. Describe yourself in three words.
10. Love or hate technology?
11. What's your biggest life goal?

I hope you feel that you know me slightly better now (if indeed that was at all your intention at the beginning of this post). Just realised how long it is... oh well! Have a lovely rest of the weekend and I WILL post again soon!

Wim x
